Unparalleled gear durability through reliable design and manufacturing technology


Advances in gear tooth flank design and manufacturing technology have improved the ground contact area where the drive gear and pinion gear mesh. As a result, the load applied to the gear tooth surface is successfully distributed over a wider area. This prevents concentrated damage and doubles the durability compared to conventional designs.

INFINITY LOOP

The "super" dense winding that goes beyond dense winding. The spool moves up and down at a much slower speed due to the evolution of the internal structure. The line is wound around the spool in an orderly and precise manner, and the resistance to line release is drastically reduced. The result is a casting feel and smooth line feeding.

INFINITY DRIVE


The conventional X-SHIP structure that realized light winding has evolved into an even more powerful structure. The main shaft, which used to be supported by the pinion gear, is now supported by a special low-friction bushing, greatly reducing sliding resistance. In addition, the main shaft itself has undergone special surface treatment and processing to significantly reduce rotational torque. The result is a reel that can actively wind even under heavy loads.

ANTII TWIST FIN


Elastic fins are installed close to the line roller section. These fins prevent the line from sagging, thus reducing the risk of the line falling off the spool or being wrapped around the spool in an uneven manner.

DURA CROSS


New drag washers made of new materials. New fibers are woven orthogonally to the fiber direction of the conventional drag washers to strengthen the material. We have succeeded in increasing abrasion resistance more than 10 times* while maintaining the smooth drag performance.

New shape AR-C spool


The shape of the AR-C spool has been changed to be more trouble-free without changing the basic performance of the conventional AR-C spool. By changing the shape and angle of the spool ring and the drag knob side, problems with line tangling on the drag knob side are greatly reduced. In addition, the spool ring is made of barrier coated spool ring with strong abrasion resistance, which is proven in Stella SW. A smooth initial condition is maintained.

HAGANE Gear
The goal is to create a winding feel that will never change.
A lump of metal is pressed under high pressure and finished with micron-level precision without cutting. This unique technology, known as precision cold forging, produces hard, tenacious gears with a smooth winding feel.

Micro Module Gear II
Soft and smooth. A pearl of gear feel.
The Micro Module Gear II has evolved through the most advanced tooth surface design and Shimano's unique manufacturing technology. Each gear tooth surface has been redesigned to achieve the ideal tooth shape. The result is a reduction in noise and an improvement in smooth gear feel.

X-Ship
Large diameter drive gear, optimal placement of both pinion and drive gears, and two-point support by pinion gear bearings.
These sturdy gear meshing maintains light reeling under load.

HAGANE Body
Lightweight and rigid metals such as aluminum and magnesium are used to prevent deflection, distortion and twisting of the reel.
This protects the delicate meshing of the gears and enables smooth reeling.

Infinity Drive
The Infinity Drive structure is a further evolution of the conventional X-Ship structure that has realized light winding. The main shaft, which was previously supported by the pinion gear, is now supported by a special low-friction bushing to greatly reduce sliding resistance, and the main shaft itself is treated with a special surface to reduce rotational torque.

Silent Drive
The basic design of the entire body and drive related parts were reviewed one by one to thoroughly eliminate minute rattles, gaps, and vibrations between parts down to the smallest detail. Improvements were made in a wide range of areas, including the drive gear, worm shaft, worm shaft pin, and worm shaft gear.
The result is a new level of smooth rotating performance and quiet winding feel.

X Protect
Shimano is proud of its iron-clad waterproof structure.
For small and medium-sized general-purpose spinning reels that require lighter rotation, we focused on a non-contact structure so as not to compromise the lightness of rotation. In addition to the conventional water-repellent treatment, we combined a labyrinth structure that prevents water from entering the reel to achieve high waterproof performance despite being non-contact. It is used in the stopper bearing section and the line roller section.
On the other hand, for big size of spinning reels for saltwater applications where higher waterproof performance is required, a contact type waterproof structure is used. By physically cutting off the path for seawater to enter with a low-sliding type sealing material, we have achieved high waterproof performance while suppressing rotational resistance. It is used in the stopper bearing section and the line roller section, and the stopper bearing section in particular is equivalent to the IPX8 waterproof standard.

G Free Body
The sliding functional parts for moving the spool back and forth are placed on the upper part of the reel body to bring the center of gravity of the entire reel closer to the hand. This improves the sense of unity with the rod, reduces fatigue from casting, and improves rod operability.

Long stroke spool
By increasing the width of the spool thread winding area,
the amount of line loss in the latter half of the cast can be reduced, contributing to improved casting feeling and casting distance.

Rigid support drag
The spool is supported by two bearings, one in the main shaft and the other in the spool, to suppress spool flutter and provide stable and smooth drag performance.

S A-RB
S A-RB bearings are sealed on the sides with an anti-corrosion material, which greatly reduces the risk of salt contamination due to recrystallization of salt inside the bearing.

One-piece bale
We have succeeded in producing a one-piece veil with no seams. It is beautiful to look at and trouble-free.
