The Wing Beam is designed with the concept of combining the distance of a sinking pencil with the big wobbling action of a minnow. Ordinary sinking pencils have a weak swimming action and do not provide enough information at hand to make it difficult to understand their movements. In addition, the shape of the pencil tends to be lifted up and it is difficult to control the range. The Winghead solves these problems and solves the demerits of common sinking pencils by allowing the lure to swim wide on a slow retrieve and improving range holding ability.
The test achieved an average distance of 97.7m indoors with no wind conditions. Two out of five throws in the test data were over 100m. The wing acts as a tailplane, stabilizing the flight attitude during flight. The hipped-up tail, which serves as the warhead, generates lift as it slices through the air for greater distance. It has a long throwing performance comparable to the spin beam.
At first glance, it looks like a sinking pencil that catches water, but the action is a flapping wobble roll. With a mere flat body, the body would just lie down and go straight on the retrieve. When the body of the wing beam is about to fall over, the wing on the head bites the water and pulls it back, and when it tries to fall over, it pulls it back again. This repetition makes for a flapping, appealing wobbling swim.
The Wing Beam swims in a flurry. Because it bites the water, it produces strong ripples and is easy to keep in range even if you reel it in slowly. Its silhouette is larger than the Spinbeam's, and its flat body has a higher flashing effect. This is the smallest plug in the Nessa series, and another feature of the Wing Beam is its appeal.
The hook size of the Wing Beam is #4 front and back, and the rings are also reinforced with #4. The rings are connected to a through wire. It is strong enough to handle large fish such as flounder, big yellow tail, and big bream.
