Inspired by a request from Evergreen American staff members Brett Hite and Justin Kerr, Toshifumi Kikumoto began development of the Shallow Hawg. The Combat Crank Shallow Hawg was repeatedly tested in a variety of fields and conditions in both Japan and the U.S. Its unique super-wide wobble-and-roll action appeals strongly to big bass. It is a big shallow crankbait with exceptional fish-calling power and excellent action response.
Combining conflicting functions
However, it is not a crank that moves well but is difficult to cast, as is often the case with American cranks. The high buoyancy fat body and square lip produce a wide and sharp action, while the tungsten center of gravity shifting system promises amazing casting distance. It combines the quick start-up and action response comparable to wood cranks with the crisp flying performance common to the Combat Crank series. Furthermore, the overwhelming presence of the body combined with its mass makes it excellent in cast accuracy with light force. The compatibility of these conflicting functions has dramatically improved the accuracy of cover cranking as well as fishing to call fish from vast areas.
